The Frustration
Polar started a couple of years ago after I had the (mis)fortune of spending way too much time working with traditional BI tools. At the time, I was using Looker Studio, and while it got the job done, the experience was frustrating. It felt slow, clunky, and surprisingly limiting when it came to building dashboards that actually looked good.
After one too many moments of thinking, "there has to be a better way," I stopped complaining and started building one. My goal was simple: create a BI platform that is fast, flexible, and enjoyable to use, without sacrificing the powerful features businesses actually need.
What began as a side project has since grown into one of WeKre8 GmbH's core software products and is now used internally by both our team and our clients.

The Advantage
One of Polar's biggest advantages is that we own it. Because it's developed in-house by WeKre8 GmbH, our clients aren't limited to whatever a third-party vendor decides to ship next. When they need a feature, an integration, or an improvement that would genuinely make their work easier, we can build it.
That close relationship between the people using the software and the people developing it means Polar keeps evolving around real business needs.
To make data even more accessible, Polar also includes an integrated AI Assistant. It can generate charts from business data, create reports, and help users understand what their dashboards are actually telling them, making powerful analytics available to everyone, not just data specialists.

Enterprise Features
Polar was designed with enterprise environments in mind from day one. Rather than treating governance and security as optional add-ons, they are built into the platform as core capabilities.
Role-based access control, granular permissions, audit logs, and approval workflows ensure that organizations can manage data securely while maintaining full visibility and accountability. These features make Polar suitable for teams that require robust governance without compromising on usability or performance.
